Description: H3C MIB for 802.11 wireless QoS configuration including WMM parameters and traffic prioritization policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-DOT11-QOS-MIB?

H3C-DOT11-QOS-MIB is an H3C-specific MIB for configuring and monitoring 802.11 wireless LAN QoS on H3C access points/wireless controllers, centered on the Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) protocol and its Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) contention parameters. It exposes per-radio WMM enable/mapping configuration (including SVP-to-Access-Category mapping and Call Admission Control policy/utilization/user-count settings) and per-Access-Category EDCA parameters such as AIFSN. This is chiefly a wireless configuration and traffic-prioritization monitoring MIB: it lets an operator confirm WMM/QoS is enabled per radio and verify or tune EDCA contention parameters and admission-control thresholds that determine voice/video call quality over WLAN, with the CAC user/utilization counters giving visibility into radio load relevant to service quality. It builds on IEEE 802.11 WMM/EDCA standard concepts but is an H3C-proprietary MIB with no formal SNMP MIB import dependency stated. It is typically deployed on H3C wireless access points and WLAN controllers in enterprise networks carrying voice/video traffic over Wi-Fi, where H3C-DOT11-QOS-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm QoS policy is delivering the expected call quality.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-DOT11-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C wireless access points
  • H3C WLAN controllers

Monitoring Examples

Polling h3cDot11RadioWmmCfgTable / h3cDot11RadioWmmCfgEntry indexed by h3cDot11WmmRadioIndex shows whether h3cDot11RadioWmmEnabled is set and what h3cDot11RadioCacPolicy is in force. Watching h3cDot11RadioCacChlUtlValue and h3cDot11RadioCacUserNum reveals current channel utilization and associated user count, flagging a radio approaching its admission-control ceiling. Checking h3cDot11RadioWmmEdcaCfgTable's h3cDot11RadioWmmAifsn per h3cDot11RadioWmmAC confirms the contention-window tuning for each traffic Access Category (voice, video, best-effort, background).

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-radio WMM enable status
  • CAC policy and channel utilization
  • CAC associated user count
  • EDCA AIFSN per access category
  • SVP-to-AC mapping

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using h3cDot11RadioCacChlUtlValue OID:

Select an H3C wireless access point/controller (802.11 WMM/EDCA QoS) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type h3cDot11RadioCacChlUtlValue into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. Represents Maximum channel utilization rate, that is, the medium time of the accepted AC-VO traffic and AC-VI traffic to the valid time during the unit time. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if utilization approaches its capacity limit, since sustained high utilization often precedes congestion or degraded performance. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
