Description: H3531-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3531-MIB?

H3531-MIB is a vendor MIB (associated with COMET/Comet System-style environmental sensor products, based on its object naming) for an environmental monitoring device that measures ambient conditions such as temperature and humidity along with digital relay and input status. It exposes sensor readings, computed derived values, and configurable low/high threshold settings for both temperature and humidity, plus discrete relay outputs and digital inputs. This MIB is squarely a hardware environmental-status monitoring module: it lets administrators track temperature, humidity, and a computed value against configured tempLow/tempHigh and humidityLow/humidityHigh thresholds to detect out-of-range environmental conditions in a server room, cabinet, or equipment enclosure, and it exposes relay1/relay2 outputs (often tied to alarms or fans) and input1-3 digital contacts (e.g., door or leak sensors) for broader facility monitoring. It appears to be a self-contained vendor MIB without heavy reliance on other standard MIBs. It is typically deployed on standalone environmental/temperature-humidity sensor appliances installed in data centers, network closets, or equipment racks. Engineers can download the H3531-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3531-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Comet System H3531 environmental monitor (temperature/humidity/relay) — Enterprise OID 22626 resolves to Comet System, confirmed by the sibling H0530-MIB module (same OID) in this round; previously left unattributed/uncertain.

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll temperature and humidity alongside computedValue, and compare them against the configured tempHigh, tempLow, humidityHigh, and humidityLow thresholds to detect when a server room is overheating or humidity is out of the safe range. The relay1/relay2 objects could be checked to confirm whether an alarm or cooling relay has been triggered, while input1, input2, and input3 might reflect door-open or water-leak sensor states. A temperature reading crossing tempHigh while relay1 remains untriggered would reveal a misconfigured or failed alarm relay.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using relay1 OID:

Select a Comet System H3531 environmental monitor (temperature/humidity/relay) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type relay1 into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the relay 1 status. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value drifts significantly from its normal baseline, since an unexpected change often points to a real underlying issue. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
