What Is Fore-CES-MIB?
Fore-CES-MIB is a FORE Systems (ATM switch pioneer, later Marconi) proprietary MIB configuring CES (Circuit Emulation Service) idle-pattern detection for ATM-carried constant-bit-rate circuits. Its objects cover a CES-extension table and a CBR-CT (Circuit-Bearer/CBR Circuit Termination) configuration table (state, idle-detection enable, idle mask, number of idle patterns, the patterns themselves, idle-interval period, active-interval period). As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm idle-pattern detection settings used to suppress cell transmission during silent periods on a FORE Systems ATM CES circuit. It is deployed on FORE Systems (Marconi) ATM switches with Circuit Emulation Service. Engineers can download the Fore-CES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Fore-CES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- CES idle-pattern detection configuration
Supported Devices
- FORE Systems (Marconi) ATM switches (Circuit Emulation Service)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks cbrctIdleDetection and cbrctIdlePatterns to confirm idle-suppression is correctly configured for a CES circuit on a FORE Systems ATM switch.
OIDs
| OID symbolic | OID numeric | Type | Access | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cesExtGroup | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16 | Fore Systems CES MIB Definitions | ||
| TES cesExtTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.1 | TestAndIncr | read-only | This indicates the value of the next available index to be used for CES creation |
| cbrctConfTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2 | not-accessible | A table of CBR Cut-through configuration information. | |
| cbrctConfEntry | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1 | not-accessible | A table entry containing CBR Cut-through configuration information for each CES connection. | |
| INT cbrctState | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.1 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable indicates whether the CBR Cut-through feature is enabled or disabled on the ingress connection . The values mean: enabled CBR Cut-through enabled disabled CBR Cut-through disabled |
| INT cbrctIdleDetection | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.2 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable identifies the idle detection mechanism used on this connection. The different values are: idlePattern(1) detection is based on idle pattern detection cas(2) detection is based on CAS signalling |
| I32 cbrctIdleMask | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.3 | Integer32 | read-write | This contains the mask pattern for idle detection. |
| I32 cbrctNoOfIdlePatterns | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.4 | Integer32 | read-write | This variable contains the number of idle patterns configured for detection. |
| I32 cbrctIdlePatterns | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.5 | Integer32 | read-write | This contains the patterns for idle detection. For detection based on both idle and mask patterns it contains the idle octet patterns. For detection based on signalling it contains the octet value of AB signalling bits (eg. 00000010 (02H), the bit 0 is B bit and bit 1 is A bit). Maximum of 4 idle patter ns are used. The idle patterns get filled from the least significant byte. The cbrctNoOfIdlePatterns gives the number of idle patterns. |
| NUM cbrctIdleIntPeriod | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.6 | TimeInterval | read-write | This contains the integration period for idle detection. |
| NUM cbrctActiveIntPeriod | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.2.1.16.2.1.7 | TimeInterval | read-write | This contains the integration period for active detection. |
