bgp4V2PeerKeepAliveConfigured

Module: FOUNDRY-BGP4V2-MIB

OID (symbolic): FOUNDRY-BGP4V2-MIB::bgp4V2PeerKeepAliveConfigured

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.3.5.1.1.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-only

Description: Time interval (in seconds) for the KeepAlive timer configured for this BGP speaker with this peer. The value of this object will only determine the KEEPALIVE

messages' frequency relative to the value specified in bgpPeerHoldTimeConfigured; the actual time interval for the KEEPALIVE messages is indicated by bgpPeerKeepAlive.

A reasonable maximum value for this timer would be one third of that of bgpPeerHoldTimeConfigured.

If the value of this object is zero (0), no periodic KEEPALIVE messages are sent to the peer after the BGP connection has been established. The suggested value for this timer is 30 seconds.

What is bgp4V2PeerKeepAliveConfigured?

This object reports the configured KeepAlive timer interval, in seconds, for a specific BGP peer, which determines how frequently KEEPALIVE messages are sent relative to the Hold Time. Admins check this to verify keepalive frequency is appropriately tuned, typically around one third of the Hold Time. For example, seeing the suggested value of 30 alongside a 90-second Hold Time confirms the standard 1:3 keepalive-to-holdtime ratio recommended in RFC 4271.
