Description: Brocade/Foundry proprietary MIB for SNMP trap receiver configuration supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 trap managers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FDRY-TRAP-MIB?
FDRY-TRAP-MIB is a Brocade/Foundry proprietary MIB for configuring where and how a switch or router sends its SNMP trap notifications, unifying what were previously separate IPv4 and IPv6 trap-receiver configuration tables into a single combined table. It exposes objects for defining trap receiver/manager entries — the destination addresses (IPv4 or IPv6) and related parameters that control which management stations receive the device's traps. Its relevance to hardware/software status monitoring is indirect but important: it is the configuration layer that determines whether fault and event notifications (from other Brocade/Foundry MIBs covering hardware, environment, and protocol events) actually reach a monitoring station, so a misconfigured or missing entry here means real device problems could go unreported. It depends on and complements the device's other Brocade/Foundry fault and status MIBs, which generate the actual trap content this module's receivers are configured to receive. It is deployed on Brocade/Foundry switches and routers wherever centralized trap-based fault monitoring is used, typically after an FDRY-TRAP-MIB download to compile the module into the network management station receiving those traps.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FDRY-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Brocade/Foundry switches and routers
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the fdryTrapReceiver table to verify that the expected management station addresses (IPv4 and/or IPv6) are correctly configured as trap destinations, which is essential to confirm before relying on trap-based alerting for hardware or protocol faults elsewhere on the device. A missing or incorrect entry in fdryTrapReceiver would explain why expected fault notifications from the device are not reaching the network management system, even though the underlying fault condition is real.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured trap receiver addresses (IPv4/IPv6)
- trap destination configuration correctness
