Description: Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch loopback MIB for configuring and monitoring logical loopback interfaces and their IP addresses.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EdgeSwitch-LOOPBACK-MIB?

The EdgeSwitch-LOOPBACK-MIB is a Ubiquiti private MIB, part of the FastPath-based EdgeSwitch software, for configuring and monitoring logical loopback interfaces. It exposes objects covering interface creation/deletion, administrative and operational state, and the IP address bound to each loopback interface. Its monitoring value is in confirming that a loopback interface used for stable management access or routing (e.g., a router-id anchor) remains up and correctly addressed, which is effectively a software/interface-state health check rather than physical hardware monitoring. It builds on the same ifIndex-based interface model used throughout standard IF-MIB implementations. It is used in Layer 3-routed EdgeSwitch deployments that need a persistent management or routing-protocol source address independent of any single physical port. Engineers can download the EdgeSwitch-LOOPBACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EdgeSwitch-LOOPBACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch managed switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll a loopback interface table entry for admin/operational status and its assigned IP address to confirm loopback0 stays up and its address unchanged after a configuration reload; a loopback interface unexpectedly reporting down, or its IP reverting to a default, would reveal that a config save/reload discarded the intended settings.

What Can Be Monitored

  • loopback interface admin status
  • loopback interface operational status
  • IP address assigned per loopback interface
  • number of configured loopback interfaces
