Category: Domain: Security, Vendor: Extreme Networks

Description: Manages Denial-of-Service (DoS) protection rules, rate limits, and attack detection on Extreme Networks devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EXTREME-DOS-MIB?

EXTREME-DOS-MIB is an Extreme Networks, Inc. proprietary MIB implementing DoS (Denial-of-Service) attack protection. Its objects cover a global enable, notice/alert severity levels, filter type, ACL timeout/rule precedence, a messages-enable flag, and a per-port table (ifIndex, trusted flag, DoS-active flag, threshold-cleared/threshold-reached indicators). As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm which ports are trusted (exempt) from DoS filtering and watch for an active DoS-attack condition on an Extreme Networks switch. It is deployed on Extreme Networks switches. Engineers can download the EXTREME-DOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-DOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Extreme Networks switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks extremeDosIsDosActive and extremeDosThresholdReached to confirm an active DoS attack condition on an Extreme Networks switch port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DoS attack detection status per port
