Description: Manages Layer 2 bridging domains, MAC forwarding tables, and bridge port configuration on Ericsson multi-service routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-BRIDGE-MIB?
ERICSSON-ROUTER-BRIDGE-MIB manages Layer 2 bridging on Ericsson multi-service routers (the SmartEdge/SE product line inherited from Redback Networks), defining objects to configure and monitor bridge groups, bridge circuits, and bridge port state. It belongs to the Layer-2 switching/bridging category within a broader routing platform, exposing bridge identity information, per-circuit descriptors and status, and port-state-change tracking. Its monitoring value centers on software/service status of bridging entities: eriRouterBridgeCircuitStatus indicates whether a bridge circuit is up, and eriRouterBridgePortPreviousState combined with the eriRouterBridgeCircuitStateEvent notification lets an operator detect and audit bridge port flaps or unexpected state transitions. It is closely related to, and presumably complements, standard bridge MIBs such as the IETF BRIDGE-MIB, while being an Ericsson-specific extension for its multi-service router bridging implementation. It is typically deployed on Ericsson/Redback-heritage multi-service edge routers used by service providers to deliver Layer 2 VPN and Ethernet aggregation services. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-BRIDGE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-BRIDGE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson (Redback-heritage) multi-service edge routers
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll eriRouterBridgeIdTable/eriRouterBridgeIdEntry to look up eriRouterBridgeName and eriRouterBridgeId for a given bridge group, then check eriRouterBridgePortCctDescrTable/eriRouterBridgePortCctDescrEntry entries via eriRouterBridgeCircuitDescriptor and eriRouterBridgeCircuitStatus to confirm a customer's bridge circuit is up. If eriRouterBridgePortPreviousState shows an unexpected transition and a corresponding eriRouterBridgeCircuitStateEvent notification fires, that flags a flapping circuit likely caused by a physical-layer or upstream provisioning issue.
What Can Be Monitored
- bridge group name and identifier
- bridge circuit status (up/down)
- bridge port previous/current state
- bridge circuit state-change events
- circuit descriptor per bridge port
