Module: ENTERASYS-DNS-RESOLVER-MIB
OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-DNS-RESOLVER-MIB::etsysDnsResolverQueryRetries

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Unsigned32
Access: read-write
Description: The number of times to retry a lookup request to a DNS server that has not successfully responded. This retry count is per name server, so each configured name server will make etsysDnsResolverQueryRetries attempts before giving up and moving to the next configured server.
What is etsysDnsResolverQueryRetries?
This object sets how many times the resolver retries a query against each configured name server before moving on to the next one. Since the retry count applies per server, an admin raising this value increases the total time spent per server before failover, while lowering it speeds up failover to the next configured DNS server. With the default of 2 retries and four servers configured, a fully unresponsive primary DNS server would cost up to 2 retry attempts before the resolver moves to the secondary.
