Description: Fault management MIB for the Calix E7 platform providing alarm definitions and fault state monitoring objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is E7-Fault-MIB?

This is a Calix private enterprise MIB providing fault/alarm management for the Calix E7 access platform family (including the E5-400 and E5-312 variants), broadband access/aggregation systems used by service providers. It exposes an alarm table capturing raised alarms, each identified by an object class and up to eight instance identifier fields pinpointing the affected managed object (e.g., a specific shelf, slot, or port), along with an alarm type classification. Its core monitoring purpose is fault/status monitoring of hardware and software conditions across the platform: it surfaces active alarms indicating hardware failures, degraded links, or service-affecting conditions on the access node, functioning as the SNMP equivalent of the platform's alarm/event log. It likely depends on or complements a broader Calix enterprise MIB tree defining the object classes referenced by e7AlarmObjectClass. It is deployed by broadband/telecom service providers managing Calix E7/E5 fiber and copper access platforms in central offices or remote cabinets. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the E7-Fault-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in E7-Fault-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Calix E7 access platform
  • Calix E5-400
  • Calix E5-312

Monitoring Examples

An NMS polling e7AlarmTable/e7AlarmEntry can enumerate active alarms by e7AlarmObjectClass and e7AlarmType, using the chained e7AlarmObjectInstance1 through e7AlarmObjectInstance8 fields to identify exactly which shelf/slot/port instance raised the fault. A new row appearing with a critical e7AlarmType against a particular object instance signals a hardware or service-affecting fault needing immediate attention on that Calix E7 access node.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active alarm list
  • alarm object class
  • alarm type/severity
  • affected object instance identifiers
