What Is Dell-VRTX-DEVICEPARAMS-MIB?

This is a private enterprise MIB associated with the Dell PowerEdge VRTX shared infrastructure platform's embedded network/bridge module, built on a RAD-derived agent codebase (indicated by the "rnd" object prefix) used in some Dell-branded switching/bridge components. It exposes general bridge-level configuration and status data including bridge type identification, firmware/version and feature/license information, an SNMP community access-control table, and IP host management addressing, alongside error and alarm descriptors. For hardware/software status monitoring it surfaces bridge firmware version (rndBrgVersion), licensed feature set (rndBrgFeatures/rndBrgLicense), and bridge alarm/error conditions (rndBridgeAlarm, rndErrorDesc, rndErrorSeverity), giving an operator visibility into whether the bridge module is running expected software and whether it is reporting faults. It layers vendor-specific community-based access management on top of the standard SNMP security framework rather than replacing it. It is typically deployed on the internal chassis management/bridge module of a Dell VRTX shared-infrastructure server enclosure, polled by chassis management software alongside standard interface and system MIBs, making Dell-VRTX-DEVICEPARAMS-MIB SNMP monitoring part of routine VRTX enclosure health checks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Dell-VRTX-DEVICEPARAMS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bridge type
  • firmware/bridge version
  • licensed features
  • active alarms
  • error description and severity
  • SNMP community access configuration
  • management IP host settings

Supported Devices

  • Dell PowerEdge VRTX chassis network/bridge module
  • RAD-derived embedded bridge/switch device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll rndBrgVersion and rndBrgFeatures to confirm the bridge module's running firmware and enabled feature set after an upgrade, and check rndBridgeAlarm alongside rndErrorDesc/rndErrorSeverity to detect an active fault condition. The rndCommunityTable (rndCommunityEntry, rndCommunityString, rndCommunityAccess) would be inspected to verify which SNMP communities have read/write access, and rndIpHostManagement would be checked to confirm the management IP address is correctly configured. An unexpected change in rndErrorSeverity combined with an active rndBridgeAlarm would flag a hardware or configuration fault needing attention.
