Description: Manages embedded web server (HTTP/HTTPS GUI) configuration on Dell network switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Dell-EMBWEB-MIB?
Dell-EMBWEB-MIB is a Dell private MIB (part of the RADLAN/Marvell-derived switch software stack used on Dell PowerConnect-family switches, evident from its rl-prefixed object names and shared rnd OID root with other RADLAN-style MIBs) that manages the switch's embedded Web Server (EWS) for HTTP/HTTPS GUI access. It defines rlEmWebHttpPort/rlEmWebHttpEnable and rlEmWebHttpsPort/rlEmWebHttpsEnable to control listening ports and protocol availability, rlEmWebSecurityTable (indexed by username) for per-user access rights (none/readOnly/readWrite/super) and SNMP-version association, and certificate-management objects (rlEmWebCertificateCommonName, rlEmWebCertificateRegenerate, rlEmWebCertificateExists) for generating and tracking the HTTPS certificate. It also exposes session-management timeouts (rlEmWebCloseTimeout, rlEmWebMaxIdleTimeout, rlEmWebMaxHttpsIdleTimeout) and a generic rlEmWebServiceTable for additional named web services with their own port/protocol/certificate bindings. This makes the MIB useful for confirming whether the embedded web GUI is reachable on its expected port/protocol and whether its TLS certificate is present and valid. It depends on the Dell-MIB enterprise tree (rnd) for OID registration and TruthValue/DisplayString/RowStatus from SNMPv2-TC, and is deployed on Dell network switches (PowerConnect series) exposing an embedded web management interface. Administrators auditing GUI access commonly need the Dell-EMBWEB-MIB MIB to check current port and certificate settings.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Dell-EMBWEB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell PowerConnect series network switches (embedded web server module)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls rlEmWebHttpsEnable and rlEmWebHttpsPort to confirm the embedded GUI is serving HTTPS on the expected port, then checks rlEmWebCertificateExists; a false value for rlEmWebCertificateExists while rlEmWebHttpsEnable is true would indicate HTTPS is enabled but no certificate has been generated, likely blocking secure GUI access.
What Can Be Monitored
- HTTP/HTTPS enable state and listening ports
- per-user embedded-web security/access-rights table
- TLS certificate existence and regeneration status
- session idle/close timeout settings
- named web service port/protocol bindings
