Description: Manages diagnostic and debug feature capabilities and settings on Dell network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Dell-DEBUGCAPABILITIES-MIB?

Dell-DEBUGCAPABILITIES-MIB is a small Dell-proprietary SNMP module (using the RADLAN-derived rl naming convention seen on several Dell Networking/PowerConnect switches) that exists solely to gate extended debugging capabilities for technical-support use on the device. Its only exposed object is a password/credential value that, when supplied correctly, unlocks deeper diagnostic and support-level management capability on the switch. Rather than exposing hardware sensors or performance counters, this MIB is purely a software/access-control mechanism: its presence and configuration state indicate whether elevated debug access has been enabled on the device, itself a security-relevant status worth tracking. There is no apparent dependency on other MIBs; it is a minimal, self-contained access-gating module. It is typically encountered on Dell managed switches when support engineers need to enable advanced diagnostic features not exposed through the normal management interface. Engineers can download the Dell-DEBUGCAPABILITIES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Dell-DEBUGCAPABILITIES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell managed network switches using RADLAN-based switch software

Monitoring Examples

The only exposed object, rlDebugCapabilitiesPassword, is a credential used to unlock extended debug/support functionality on the device rather than a value polled for operational status. Rather than a traditional monitoring scenario, its main relevance is auditing whether this object has ever been set, since a configured debug password indicates elevated support-level access has been enabled on the switch, a state administrators would want to track for security review.

What Can Be Monitored

  • debug capability password/access configuration state
