Category: Domain: Security, Standard: IEEE 802

Description: Manages 802.1X authentication server configuration and RADIUS server settings for port-based access control.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DOT1X-AUTHENTICATION-SERVER-MIB?

This is Quanta's private MIB for configuring 802.1X authentication server settings, including RADIUS server parameters used for port-based network access control. It belongs to the network access/authentication management area on Quanta-branded switches. The data it exposes is largely configuration for RADIUS server addresses, shared secrets, and 802.1X port-control modes, but it also supports monitoring of the authentication subsystem's software status, such as whether a configured RADIUS server is reachable and whether port-based access control is currently enforced. It builds on the IEEE 802.1X standard and typically works alongside a standard PAE MIB and RADIUS client conventions for consistency with other vendors' implementations. It is deployed on Quanta enterprise switches in environments requiring port-based network access control (NAC) for wired clients. Engineers can download the DOT1X-AUTHENTICATION-SERVER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DOT1X-AUTHENTICATION-SERVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Quanta network switch

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were supplied for this module, so specific table or object names cannot be cited. Conceptually, an administrator would poll objects representing configured RADIUS server addresses and 802.1X port-control state to confirm that ports are correctly enforcing authentication and that the RADIUS server is reachable. A misconfigured or unreachable RADIUS server would typically show up as authentication failures or ports stuck in an unauthorized state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • 802.1X authentication server reachability
  • RADIUS server configuration
  • port-based access control state
  • authentication session status
