Description: Manages cryptographic key management and key chain configuration for routing protocol authentication on Dell DNOS.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DNOS-KEYING-PRIVATE-MIB?
DNOS-KEYING-PRIVATE-MIB is a Broadcom-authored private MIB used within Dell EMC Networking's DNOS (Dell Networking Operating System) to manage cryptographic key-chain configuration used for authenticating routing protocols (such as OSPF, BGP, or RIP key rotation). It exposes a feature-enable/disable control pair and a table of configured keying entries. It is primarily a security-configuration MIB rather than a hardware/performance monitor: its value is in confirming that the keying feature is enabled and that expected key-chain entries are present, since a missing or disabled key chain would cause routing-protocol authentication to fail and adjacencies to drop. It works alongside standard routing-protocol MIBs (e.g., OSPF-MIB, BGP4-MIB) that reference these key chains for authentication, though it does not itself implement those protocols. It is deployed on Dell EMC Networking switches/routers running DNOS in enterprise or data-center environments requiring authenticated routing protocol sessions. Engineers can download the DNOS-KEYING-PRIVATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DNOS-KEYING-PRIVATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell EMC Networking switch/router running DNOS
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check agentFeatureKeyingEnableKey/agentFeatureKeyingDisableKey state to confirm the key-chain feature is active, then enumerate agentFeatureKeyingTable entries to verify the expected key chains are configured. If a routing peer suddenly fails to form an adjacency, an operator would use this MIB to confirm the local key-chain entry wasn't accidentally disabled or removed, ruling out an authentication mismatch as the cause. Because only feature-level and table-presence objects are exposed here, specific key values are appropriately not visible via SNMP for security reasons.
What Can Be Monitored
- keying feature enable/disable state
- configured key chain entries
- key chain table presence/count
