Description: Provides performance tuning parameters for optimizing forwarding and switching behavior on D-Link 3100 series switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINK-3100-Tuning?

DLINK-3100-Tuning is a D-Link, Inc. private extension MIB (under rnd, imported from DLINK-3100-MIB) providing performance-tuning parameters for the D-Link 3100-series router platform's internal forwarding and switching subsystems. It exposes paired current-value/after-reset-value objects for a large set of table-size limits — bridge forwarding, IP and IPX forwarding (FFT) tables at both interface and system scope, ARP, IPX SAP, IP next-hop and ECMP sets, DHCP connections, IGMP/PIM/PIM-SM/DVMRP neighbor and route tables, RMON log and EtherHistory entries, VLAN and GVRP participation, policy-routing rule tables, traceroute control/probe-history entries, and SNMP community entries — plus resource-pool sizing for TCP and RADIUS memory, SSH authorized keys, DNS client cache, and syslog cache/compaction behavior. It also includes a diagnostics table reporting the code, location, and text of recently rejected SNMP requests, an event-message table, and a generic rlTuningParamsTable that summarizes each tunable's current, after-reset, default, minimum, and maximum values by name. Because most limits only take effect after a reboot, the current-vs-after-reset object pairing is central to safely staging capacity changes. It is deployed on D-Link 3100-series routing platforms, and administrators can download the DLINK-3100-Tuning file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-Tuning. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link 3100-series routing platforms

Monitoring Examples

An operator raises rsMaxIpFrwEntriesAfterReset ahead of a planned capacity increase, then polls rsMaxIpFrwEntries (the current, pre-reboot value) to confirm the change has not yet taken effect and schedules a maintenance-window reboot; if rsMaxIpFrwEntries never converges to the after-reset value following the reboot, rlTuningParamsTable's min/max/default columns for that parameter help confirm whether the requested value was rejected as out of range.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current vs. after-reset table-size limits (IP/IPX forwarding, ARP, bridge)
  • IGMP/PIM/DVMRP neighbor and route table limits
  • rejected SNMP request diagnostics table
  • resource pool sizing (TCP/RADIUS memory, sockets)
  • generic tuning-parameter current/default/min/max summary table
