Description: Agent capability MIB declaring supported objects and variations in the IETF Differentiated Services MIB implementation.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DIFFSERV-MIB-CAPABILITY?
DIFFSERV-MIB-CAPABILITY is a Cisco Systems AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module declaring which parts of the standard DIFFSERV-MIB (RFC 3289) a given Cisco device/software image implements (Differentiated Services (DiffServ) QoS). Like other capability modules, it is a compatibility/conformance declaration rather than a data-bearing MIB, carrying no scalar or table objects of its own. Its role is limited to MIB-compilation and network-management-system compatibility checking rather than runtime monitoring. It is present wherever Cisco devices implement Differentiated Services (DiffServ) QoS and register their DIFFSERV-MIB (RFC 3289) conformance. Engineers researching the DIFFSERV-MIB-CAPABILITY RFC reference should note this module itself is a Cisco conformance declaration, not an RFC document — the underlying DIFFSERV-MIB it declares support for is the actual IETF-specified (RFC 3289) module.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DIFFSERV-MIB-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
A network management system consults this capability module during MIB compilation to determine which optional DIFFSERV-MIB (RFC 3289) object groups a given Cisco device actually implements before attempting to poll them.
