phivRouteMaxHops

Module: DECnet-iv

OID (symbolic): DECnet-iv::phivRouteMaxHops

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.18.5.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This value represents the maximum number of routing hops allowable from the executor to any other reachable node within an area. (A hop is the logical distance over a circuit between two adjacent nodes.) This parameter defines the point where the executor node's Routing routing decision algorithm declares another node unreachable because the length of the shortest path between the two nodes is too long. For correct operation, this parameter must not be less than the network diameter. (The network diameter is the reachability distance between the two nodes of the network having the greatest reachability distance, where reachability distance is the length the shortest path between a given pair of nodes.)

What is phivRouteMaxHops?

Configures the hop-count ceiling beyond which Routing declares a destination node unreachable, where a hop is the logical distance across one circuit between adjacent nodes. Must be set no lower than the network's actual diameter (the longest shortest-path distance between any two nodes), or some genuinely reachable nodes will be treated as unreachable.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.18.5.10
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DECnet-iv::phivRouteMaxHops

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.18.5.10.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DECnet-iv::phivRouteMaxHops.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.18.5.10.1 i <value>
