All MIBs › CTRON-SFPS-EVENTLOG-MIB
Category: Alarm and Event Management, Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys
Description: Manages Cabletron SFPS event logging configuration, log entries, and event notification thresholds.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CTRON-SFPS-EVENTLOG-MIB?
CTRON-SFPS-EVENTLOG-MIB is a Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) MIB managing the switch's internal event log, its configuration, individual log entries, and notification thresholds. It exposes an event-log statistics table (sfpsEventLogStatsTable/Entry) per switch instance plus a log-entry structure carrying severity level, client/source name, message text, timestamp, and call-tag/info fields (sfpsEventLogLevel, sfpsEventLogClientName, sfpsEventLogMessageString, sfpsEventLogTime, sfpsEventLogCallTag). Its monitoring value is squarely in software fault/event visibility - surfacing internal error, warning, and informational events generated by SFPS switch subsystems, which is effectively the switch's software-level fault log accessible over SNMP. As part of the Cabletron SFPS MIB family it shares the switch-instance indexing model (sfpsEventLogStatsSwInst) used across other SFPS MIBs. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast switches for centralized event/fault monitoring from an NMS without needing console or syslog access. Engineers can download the CTRON-SFPS-EVENTLOG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-EVENTLOG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll sfpsEventLogStatsTable/Entry indexed by sfpsEventLogStatsSwInst to get a windowed view (sfpsEventLogWindowStart) of recent events, then examine entries by sfpsEventLogIndex to read sfpsEventLogLevel and sfpsEventLogMessageString, quickly spotting a spike in error-level events from a specific sfpsEventLogClientName subsystem. sfpsEventLogTime and sfpsEventLogCallTag help correlate a logged event with a specific internal software call path during troubleshooting. sfpsEventLogInfo1 carries additional context data attached to the event.
What Can Be Monitored
- event log entries
- event severity level
- event source/client
- event message text
- event timestamp
