ctEntStateAlarm

Module: CTRON-ENTITY-STATE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-ENTITY-STATE-MIB::ctEntStateAlarm

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.31.1.1.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: EntityAlarmStatus

Access: read-only

Description: The alarm status for this entity. It does not include the alarms raised on child components within its containment hierarchy.

A value of 'unknown' means that this entity is unable to report alarm state. Note that this differs from 'indeterminate' which means that that alarm state is supported and there are alarms against this entity, but the severity of some of the alarms is not known

If no bits are set, then this entity supports reporting of alarms, but there are currently no active alarms against this entity.

What is ctEntStateAlarm?

This reports the alarm condition raised specifically against this entity itself, excluding any alarms raised by child components it contains. It lets an admin pinpoint exactly which component in a hierarchy is alarming rather than relying on a vague chassis-wide flag. For example, an alarm reported on the power-supply entity itself, rather than one rolled up from a fan beneath it, tells the admin to check the power supply specifically.
