If the value is hotPluggable(3), the fan can be safely removed if and only if the cpqHeFltTolFanRedundant field is in a redundant(3) state.
This value will be one of the following: other(1) The state could not be determined.
nonHotPluggable(2) The fan is not hot plug capable.
hotPluggable(3) The fan is hot plug capable and can be removed if the system is operating in a redundant state. A fan may be added to an empty fan bay.
What is cpqHeFltTolFanHotPlug?
This read-only enumerated value (other, nonHotPluggable, hotPluggable) reports whether this fan can be safely pulled or inserted while the system is running, contingent on being in a redundant state. An admin consults this before attempting a live fan swap to avoid pulling a fan that would leave the system uncooled. Even a hotPluggable fan should not be removed unless cpqHeFltTolFanRedundant simultaneously reads redundant.
