Category: Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: CoSine
Description: Defines global OID registrations for the CoSine Communications IPSX product family.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is COSINE-GLOBAL-REG?
COSINE-GLOBAL-REG is a purely structural MIB module defining the root OID subtree that IANA assigned to CoSine Communications, a former maker of IP Service Exchange (IPSX) multi-service edge routing platforms. It does not itself define any monitorable objects, tables, or traps — it only establishes the private enterprise numbering root under which other CoSine MIB modules register their own object identifiers. As such it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; it exists solely so that other CoSine MIBs (covering IPSX interfaces, virtual routers, or services) have a consistent OID namespace to build on. Its only dependency relationship is that every other CoSine-branded MIB module relies on this registration root being loaded. It would be encountered in any deployment of CoSine IPSX service-provider edge routers, but only as an OID anchor rather than an operational monitoring source. Engineers can download the COSINE-GLOBAL-REG file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COSINE-GLOBAL-REG. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This module is a pure OID registration/root definition with no runtime data objects, tables, or notifications of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe here — an administrator would never poll this MIB directly. Its sole function is to reserve the enterprise OID branch that other CoSine MIB modules attach their actual managed objects to.
