cmAlmTestAlarmEntity

Module: CM-ALARM-MIB

OID (symbolic): CM-ALARM-MIB::cmAlmTestAlarmEntity

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.6.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: VariablePointer

Access: read-write

Description: This object is used to specify the entity for which the test alarm is raised/cleared. This entity can be OID of a card(unit) or a port (Ethernet Access or Ethernet Network). The test alarm is the trap cmNetworkElementAlmTrap with condition type as testalarm. If not specified, the value of this object is 0.0.

What is cmAlmTestAlarmEntity?

This read-write VariablePointer specifies the entity, such as a card or an Ethernet Access/Network port, for which a synthetic test alarm should be raised or cleared, defaulting to 0.0 when unset. An admin cares because it lets them pick exactly which physical entity generates a test condition to verify alarm reporting end-to-end. For example, an admin sets this to the OID of a specific Ethernet Network port before triggering a test alarm to confirm the NMS receives the resulting cmNetworkElementAlmTrap.
