rlPhdModuleHotSwapAdminStatus

Module: CISCOSB-Physicaldescription-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-Physicaldescription-MIB::rlPhdModuleHotSwapAdminStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.53.5.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The desired state of the module. The off(1) state indicates that the module is not used and its rlPhdModuleHotSwapOperStatus is always off(2). The on{1) state indicates that the module may be used and its rlPhdModuleHotSwapOperStatus will be on(1) if it presents and off(2) if it does not present.

What is rlPhdModuleHotSwapAdminStatus?

This read-write INTEGER sets the administrator's desired hot-swap state for a module: on(1) meaning it may be used, or off(2) meaning it is administratively disabled regardless of whether it is physically present. An admin would set this to off before physically removing or replacing a module, so the system does not raise spurious alarms when the module's operational status subsequently goes down. For example, before pulling a line card for maintenance, the admin sets this object to off(2) for that module slot to gracefully take it out of service first.
