This read-only object reports the ifIndex of the stacking port on the neighboring unit that this cascade or stacking port connects to, or 0 if there is no connection. An admin mapping out the physical stacking topology uses this to trace exactly which port on which neighboring unit a given stacking link terminates at, useful when diagnosing a broken stack ring. For example, if this field unexpectedly reports 0 for a port that should be actively cascading to the next unit, the admin knows that stacking link has gone down and needs a cable or hardware check.
