This read-create object sets the maximum number of groups for which the DC-PIM TIB Manager may store non-interface-specific (*,G) and/or (S,G) multicast state, with zero meaning no limit. An admin on a memory- or CPU-constrained device uses this to cap multicast state growth and protect the router from being overwhelmed by too many active groups. For example, an admin might set this to 5000 on a small branch switch to prevent an unexpectedly large number of IPTV groups from exhausting router resources.
