This read-only PimStatsCounter counts the number of PIM Assert messages sent out this interface. A rising count on a shared segment with multiple PIM routers points to ongoing forwarder election contention there. For example, a rising value on a LAN segment with multiple PIM routers suggests repeated forwarder election contention on that shared segment.
