This read-only counter reports the total number of entries currently present in the Neighbor Binding Table. An admin monitors this value to gauge how close the table is to any configured per-interface, per-MAC, or per-VLAN limits, and to spot unexpected growth that might indicate a scanning or spoofing attempt. For example, a sudden jump in this count on a switch with no new hosts added could signal a device generating many bogus IPv6 neighbor entries.
