p2mpCableLoss
Module: CISCO-WIRELESS-P2MP-PHY-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-WIRELESS-P2MP-PHY-MIB::p2mpCableLoss
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.170.1.1.1.1.1.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Unsigned32
Access: read-write
Description: This object indicates the measured signal power loss in dB due to the cable connecting the radio to the main antenna. The hardware compensates for this cable loss by adjusting the receive and transmit gain appropriately. A value of 0 indicates no degradation in the signal due to the cable. The radio hardware can compensate for a cable loss of no more than 15 db. This cable loss applies to the main antenna only.
What is p2mpCableLoss?
A read-write Unsigned32 (0..15 dB) recording the measured signal power loss due to the cable connecting the radio to the main antenna, which the hardware uses to compensate receive and transmit gain. An inaccurate cable-loss value would cause the radio to under- or over-compensate its gain settings, effectively miscalibrating the whole link even if every other setting is correct. For example, replacing a short antenna cable with a much longer run without updating p2mpCableLoss to match the added loss would leave the radio compensating for the old, shorter cable and effectively operating with a hidden power deficit.
