This read-only enumeration (both, aesa, e164) reports which ATM addressing scheme a public UNI port accepts, defaulting to aesa on any non-public-UNI interface. An admin monitoring ATM signaling checks this to know whether callers must present AESA-format addresses, E.164 telephone-style addresses, or either, before assuming a connection setup failure is address-format related. For example, a public UNI reporting 'e164' means a device trying to place an SVC using an AESA address on that port will fail address validation, since only E.164 addressing is accepted there.
