This read-only object reports the number of coding violations encountered on the SONET section layer during the current 24-hour interval. An administrator monitors this running count as an early indicator of physical-layer signal quality issues on the section layer during the current day. For example, a steadily rising CV count throughout the day, even without crossing any alarm threshold, could prompt an administrator to proactively inspect the fiber connection.
