Description: This variable indicates the status of the interface. The cwsPathStatAlarmStatus is a bit map represented as a sum, therefore, it can represent multiple defects simultaneously. If none of the bits are set, it indicates no defect. What is cwsPathStatAlarmStatus?

This read-only bitmap value reports which SONET path performance thresholds are currently exceeded on this interface, with each bit position corresponding to a specific counter such as total errored seconds, severely errored seconds, coding violations, or unavailable seconds, and a value of zero meaning no defect is active. Because multiple bits can be set at once, an admin can see at a glance whether several threshold-crossing conditions are happening simultaneously on the same path rather than polling each counter individually. For example, a NOC dashboard might decode this bitmap to show that both the errored-seconds and unavailable-seconds bits are set, telling the operator the circuit is both noisy and intermittently down.
