This read-only counter reports the number of far-end severely errored seconds recorded on this SONET path during the current 24-hour interval, as reported back from the remote end. It helps an admin identify serious signal degradation occurring on the far side of the link rather than locally. For example, a technician troubleshooting a one-way transmit problem could compare this far-end SES count against the local SES count to see which direction of the path is failing.
