This read-only object reports the number of far-end errored seconds encountered on the SONET line layer during the current 24-hour interval. An administrator uses this far-end figure, together with the corresponding near-end counter, to determine whether line errors are occurring locally, remotely, or in both directions. For example, a high far-end ES count paired with a low near-end ES count would point an administrator toward a problem closer to the remote end of the line rather than the local equipment.
