Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-VOICE-ENABLED-LINK-MIB?
CISCO-VOICE-ENABLED-LINK-MIB manages Cisco's proprietary Voice Enabled ATM and Frame Relay link feature, which allows Cisco Switched Voice Protocol to discover voice network topology over data links by exchanging node MAC addresses in call setup and keepalive messages. It exposes a table of voice-enabled links per interface, including link type, the VPI/DLCI or VCI identifying the underlying ATM/FR circuit, and the remote node's MAC address learned via keepalives. Its monitoring value is primarily topology and link-health verification: confirming a link's remote MAC address is being learned/updated (evidence the keepalive protocol is functioning) helps detect a down or misconfigured voice trunk before calls fail to route. It depends on the underlying ATM/Frame Relay interface and Cisco Switched Voice Protocol topology-discovery mechanism. It is deployed on legacy Cisco voice gateways/switches using ATM or Frame Relay links to carry inter-node voice signaling, and the CISCO-VOICE-ENABLED-LINK-MIB MIB Browser view lets administrators inspect these voice-enabled link objects directly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VOICE-ENABLED-LINK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco voice gateways/switches using ATM or Frame Relay links (Cisco Switched Voice Protocol)
Monitoring Examples
cvEnabledLinkTable/cvEnabledLinkEntry exposes cvEnabledLinkType, cvEnabledLinkVpiDlci, cvEnabledLinkVci, and cvEnabledLinkRemoteMacAddr for each voice-enabled circuit. An admin can confirm cvEnabledLinkRemoteMacAddr is populated and matches the expected remote node, and a link that fails to learn a remote MAC (staying blank or stale) signals a broken keepalive/topology-discovery exchange, indicating the voice trunk over that ATM/FR PVC is down.
What Can Be Monitored
- voice-enabled link type
- VPI/DLCI or VCI circuit identifiers
- remote node MAC address (topology discovery)
- default MAC address of local node
- link keepalive/topology health
