vismXgcpRequestMaxTimeout
Module: CISCO-VISM-XGCP-EXT
OID (symbolic): CISCO-VISM-XGCP-EXT::vismXgcpRequestMaxTimeout
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.5.5.5.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Integer32
Access: read-write
Description: This object specifies the maximum timeout value.
This timer value is used along with xgcpRequestTimeout and xgcpRequestRetries (in xgcpGrp.my) to determine the exponential retry interval for retransmitting unacknowledged xgcp messages.
The value of this timer has to be greater than or equal to xgcpRequestTimeout.
The default value of this object is 500 milliseconds.
When the value of this object changes vismXgcpCoreObjects changed trap will be sent.
What is vismXgcpRequestMaxTimeout?
This read-write Integer32 (1-100000, default 500 milliseconds) sets the maximum timeout used together with xgcpRequestTimeout and xgcpRequestRetries to compute the exponential retry interval for retransmitting unacknowledged XGCP messages, and it must be set greater than or equal to xgcpRequestTimeout. An admin cares because this value caps how long the exponential backoff for message retransmission is allowed to grow, directly affecting how long a lost XGCP command takes to finally give up retrying. For example, an operator on a high-latency link experiencing frequent unnecessary XGCP retransmissions would raise this maximum timeout so the exponential backoff can grow larger before retrying.
