vismTrapIntegerValue

Module: CISCO-VISM-MODULE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VISM-MODULE-MIB::vismTrapIntegerValue

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.3.17.5.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: accessible-for-notify

Description: This object is used only for the purpose of sending it in the trap varbind.

This object can be used when the instance value of an integer object has to be sent instead of the actual integer object.

The NMS applications should not depend on the implementation of this object. The SNMP Requests(GET,GET-NEXT) may not be valid for this object.

What is vismTrapIntegerValue?

This accessible-for-notify Integer32 (0 to 2147483647) exists only to carry an integer instance value inside a trap varbind rather than sending the actual underlying integer object, and the MIB explicitly warns that GET/GET-NEXT requests against it may not be reliable. An admin cares because this object is a trap-transport convenience, not something to be polled directly by network management applications. For example, an NMS should treat any value seen for this object strictly as trap payload data and not attempt to SNMP-GET it independently to verify state.
