vismEcanTail

Module: CISCO-VISM-DSX1-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VISM-DSX1-MIB::vismEcanTail

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.3.5.1.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: This object identifies the maximum tail. The object should be set just higher than the worst round trip delay anticipated. Convergence times may increase for longer tails and more resource will be used.

Only following discrete values are allowed: 24, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, 112 and 128.

What is vismEcanTail?

This Integer32 (24..128), in milliseconds, sets the maximum echo tail length for this line, chosen from the discrete values 24, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, 112, or 128, and should be set just above the worst expected round-trip delay. A tail set too short will fail to cancel echo from longer network paths, while an unnecessarily long tail increases convergence time and consumes more DSP resources, so an admin tunes this to the actual network path length. For example, a line routed over a long-haul or high-delay VoIP path would need vismEcanTail set to a higher value like 112 or 128 to fully cancel the resulting echo.
