An admin triaging a list of active threshold breaches sorts by this severity to work on the most critical conditions, such as a major or critical breach, before minor ones. For example, a floating-point threshold value reporting a critical severity for a power-related counter would be addressed by the admin ahead of a floating-point threshold value showing only a warning-level severity elsewhere in the domain.
