An admin watches this retry count climb to recognize a workflow that keeps failing and re-attempting rather than one that succeeded cleanly on the first try. For example, seeing this counter reach a high value on a particular MountDef instance while its status still shows "in progress" is a strong signal to intervene manually instead of waiting for UCS Manager to keep retrying.
