This counter tracks the total number of SCSI read I/O operations that have occurred on this specific LUN within this specific initiator-target flow. An admin diagnosing a storage performance complaint for one particular host-to-array-to-LUN path watches this counter's growth rate to establish the actual read workload on that path, separate from other flows sharing the same switch. A database server's flow to its data LUN might show tens of thousands of reads per minute, while a lightly used backup LUN's flow shows only a handful.
