Description: Manages policy, site, and RF tags assigned to access points on Cisco wireless LAN controllers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-LWAPP-TAGS-MIB?

CISCO-LWAPP-TAGS-MIB is a Cisco wireless-networking MIB implemented on Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) acting as Central Controllers that terminate the LWAPP/CAPWAP tunnel from Cisco lightweight access points. It exposes configuration data for policy, RF, and site tags assigned to access points, including tables such as cLPolicyTagConfigTable and cLPolicyProfileConfigTable that define named policy/profile groupings and their row status. Its monitoring role is primarily configuration-state visibility: confirming which policy/profile tags exist and their RowStatus (active, notInService, etc.) reflects the software configuration health of the WLC's AP-grouping logic, while ciscoLwappTagsMIBNotifs can signal configuration-change events; it does not expose deep hardware sensors. It depends on the broader Cisco LWAPP/CAPWAP wireless MIB family for the actual AP association and RF data these tags are applied to. It is typically deployed on Cisco Unified Wireless Network controllers managing fleets of lightweight access points in enterprise WLAN deployments. Engineers can download the CISCO-LWAPP-TAGS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-LWAPP-TAGS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC)
  • Cisco lightweight access point (LWAPP/CAPWAP)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cLPolicyTagConfigTable to list configured policy tags (cLPolicyTagName, cLPolicyTagDescription) and check cLPolicyTagRowStatus to confirm each tag is active, or query cLPolicyProfileConfigTable/cLRlanPolicyProfileConfigTable to verify which policy profiles are associated with remote-LAN configurations. A tag entry stuck in a notReady or notInService RowStatus would reveal an incomplete or failed configuration push to the controller.

What Can Be Monitored

  • policy tag configuration
  • policy tag row status
  • policy profile configuration
  • RLAN policy profile association
  • tag/profile naming and descriptions
