Category: Cisco Devices, SNMP Framework, VPN and Security

Description: States agent capability information for the Cisco IKE configuration MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IKE-CONF-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-IKE-CONF-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that declares which parts of the CISCO-IKE-CONFIGURATION-MIB a given Cisco SNMP agent implementation actually supports. It belongs to the IPsec/VPN security management area of Cisco's MIB set and does not itself define any managed objects, tables, or notifications. As a conformance/capabilities statement it is not used to monitor hardware or software runtime status directly; instead it is consulted by management systems to determine which IKE configuration objects are safe to query or set on a particular device or software version. It is entirely dependent on, and meaningless without, the CISCO-IKE-CONFIGURATION-MIB it describes. It is typically used internally by NMS platforms and MIB compilers during capability negotiation, not polled at runtime by operators. Engineers can download the CISCO-IKE-CONF-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IKE-CONF-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco routers/VPN gateways running IKE/IPsec (capability declaration only, not a specific device class)

Monitoring Examples

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects of its own -- it only enumerates which groups and objects of CISCO-IKE-CONFIGURATION-MIB are implemented, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe.
