cefPrefixInternalNRBytes

Module: CISCO-CEF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-CEF-MIB::cefPrefixInternalNRBytes

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.492.1.1.2.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: If CEF accounting is set to enable nonRecursive accounting (value of cefCfgAccountingMap object in the cefCfgEntry is set to enable 'nonRecursive' accounting), then this object represents the number of non-recursive bytes in the internal bucket switched using this prefix.

What is cefPrefixInternalNRBytes?

This tracks the byte total, rather than packet count, for the internal non-recursive accounting bucket associated with this prefix. Pairing this with cefPrefixInternalNRPkts lets an admin compute average packet size specifically for internally-resolved traffic to this prefix, distinct from whatever the externally-resolved, recursive, traffic to related prefixes looks like. If this byte counter grows much faster relative to its packet counterpart than expected, it would suggest internally-resolved traffic to this prefix is carrying unusually large packets, such as bulk transfers rather than typical mixed traffic.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-CEF-MIB::cefPrefixInternalNRBytes

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.492.1.1.2.1.11.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-CEF-MIB::cefPrefixInternalNRBytes.1
