Module: CISCO-CEF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-CEF-MIB::cefFESelectionAdjNextHopAddrType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.492.1.3.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddressType

Description: This object represent the next hop address type for the adjacency associated with this forwarding Element List.

The value of this object will be irrelevant and will be set to unknown(0) if the forwarding element list doesn't contain an adjacency forwarding element.

What is cefFESelectionAdjNextHopAddrType?

This reports the address type, IPv4, IPv6, or unknown, of the next-hop address associated with the adjacency forwarding element in this list, defaulting to unknown when there is no adjacency forwarding element present. This lets management tools correctly parse the accompanying cefFESelectionAdjNextHopAddr object, since InetAddress values are only meaningful when interpreted according to their declared type, getting this wrong would cause an IPv6 address to be misread as IPv4 or vice versa. For a dual-stack router's IPv6 prefix, this object would report ipv6, telling a management application to interpret the accompanying next-hop address field as a 16-byte IPv6 address rather than a 4-byte IPv4 one.
