Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for the Cisco ATM virtual interface MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module for the ATM networking technology area, not a data-bearing MIB. It declares which specific object groups of the companion CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-MIB are supported by particular Cisco ATM service modules and firmware releases, such as the AXSM and AXSM-E modules used in ATM switch platforms. It exposes no hardware or software status data of its own; its role is purely to communicate feature/version compatibility for ATM virtual interface management to management systems. It is entirely dependent on the CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-MIB it profiles. It is used by NMS tools and MIB compilers as a CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-CAPABILITY reference to validate that a given AXSM/AXSM-E module release on a Cisco ATM switch supports the virtual interface objects before attempting to monitor them.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ATM switches with AXSM/AXSM-E service modules
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/capabilities module, not a source of runtime monitoring data; it defines no pollable status objects. It maps capability entries like cavIfCapabilityAxsmV2R0010 and cavIfCapabilityAxsmeV2R0160 to the groups of CISCO-ATM-VIRTUAL-IF-MIB supported by the AXSM and AXSM-E modules in specific releases. An NMS would reference it only to determine which virtual-interface MIB objects are safe to query on a particular module/firmware combination.
