Module: CISCO-APPLIANCE-REDUNDANCY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-APPLIANCE-REDUNDANCY-MIB::carRedundancyState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.458.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CarRedundancyState

Access: read-only

Description: The HA redundancy state of this appliance device.

What is carRedundancyState?

This reports this specific appliance's current role within the HA pair using the platform's CarRedundancyState enumeration, telling an admin whether this particular node is currently the active member handling traffic or the standby member ready to take over. An admin polls this on both appliances in the pair to confirm exactly one is active and one is standby at any given time -- seeing both report active, or both report standby, would indicate a split-brain or synchronization problem in the redundancy configuration. For example, polling this object on the appliance at carMyAddress and finding it reports active while the peer at carPeerAddress simultaneously also reports active would reveal a split-brain condition needing immediate attention.
