Module: CISCO-APPLIANCE-REDUNDANCY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-APPLIANCE-REDUNDANCY-MIB::carMyAddress

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.458.1.1.5.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddress

Access: read-only

Description: The IP address of the interface configured for this HA configuration in this appliance. The type of this mib variable is defined in carMyAddressType. Note this value will not be affected by switchover events.

What is carMyAddress?

This reports the fixed IP address of this specific appliance's own HA interface, and critically, unlike carVirtualAddress this value stays the same regardless of whether this appliance is currently active or standby -- it identifies the physical node itself, not the floating role-based address. An admin querying this directly on a specific appliance (rather than through the virtual address) uses it to confirm exactly which physical box they're talking to when doing node-specific diagnostics rather than general HA-pair management. For example, an admin troubleshooting the standby node specifically would connect using this appliance's carMyAddress rather than the virtual address, which would otherwise route them to whichever node is currently active instead.
