What Is CIMWIN32-MIB?
CIMWIN32-MIB is an SNMP proxy MIB that surfaces Microsoft Windows CIM/WMI Win32 system classes for SNMP-based management, but its object tree is rooted through UMS-MIB's win32WMI branch, whose enterprise OID (ibm.ibmProd.umservices) shows it was actually published under IBM's UM Services (Universal Manageability Services / Director) umbrella rather than by Microsoft itself. It defines tables mirroring Windows WMI classes, including win32ComputerSystemTable (win32ComputerSystemManufacturer, win32ComputerSystemModel, win32ComputerSystemDomain, win32ComputerSystemBootupState), win32TapeDriveTable (win32TapeDriveStatus, win32TapeDriveMediaType, win32TapeDriveCompression), and win32DiskDriveTable (win32DiskDriveInterfaceType, win32DiskDrivePartitions, win32DiskDriveSectorsPerTrack, win32DiskDriveTotalCylinders). This makes the MIB useful for monitoring Windows host hardware and OS-level inventory data (system model, disk geometry, tape drive state) over SNMP where a native SNMP agent isn't otherwise WMI-aware. It depends on the UMS-MIB base module for its textual conventions (Boolean, Uint32, String, etc.) and enterprise placement, and is deployed on Windows hosts running an IBM Director / UM Services SNMP subagent; the vendor field on this entry should be corrected from Microsoft to IBM (UM Services) even though the modeled classes originate from Microsoft's WMI schema. Administrators can consult the CIMWIN32-MIB MIB when mapping these Win32 WMI objects to SNMP OIDs.

An operator polls win32ComputerSystemTable to confirm win32ComputerSystemManufacturer/Model match inventory records and checks win32DiskDriveTable for win32DiskDriveInterfaceType and win32DiskDrivePartitions per disk; a disk entry whose win32DiskDriveStatus (via the general status object) changes from its normal value would flag a failing or newly reconfigured drive on that Windows host.
