Description: The number of malformed TACACS Access-Response packets received from this server. Malformed packets include packets with an invalid length. Bad authenticators or signature attributes or unknown types are not included as malformed access responses.

What is cienaCesTacacsClientGlobalAuthenticationMalformedAccessResponses?

This counter counts TACACS+ authentication responses the switch received but rejected specifically because the packet itself was malformed (an invalid length), explicitly excluding responses that merely had a bad authenticator or unknown type, which are tracked by separate counters. Because this points at wire-format corruption or a version/protocol mismatch rather than a credentials problem, a nonzero value here should send an admin toward checking TACACS+ server software version compatibility, not the identity store. For example, this might climb after a TACACS+ server vendor pushes a firmware update that subtly changes packet framing.
